Emmanuel Ceysson

Emmanuel Ceysson is one of the most acclaimed harpists in the world.

In 2020 he will assume the post of a principal harpist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a position he held in the past at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at the Paris Opera. Since 2005 he has been giving concerts in the leading world venues (Wigmore Hall, Salle Gaveau, Carnegie Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus and Berliner Philharmonie); these included both solo recitals and concert and chamber music repertoire. He is a laureate of several prestigious international competitions, including the USA International Harp Competition (2004), New York Young Concert Artists Audition (2016), and the renowned International Music Competition Musikwettbewerb of the German public television and radio broadcasting service ARD in Munich (2009).

In the years 2005-2009, he was visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and taught at the International Summer Academy in Nice. His plans for the near future include a performance of Glière’s Concerto for Harp with the Grazer Philharmo

Emmanuel Ceysson is a French harpist and academic. He is principal harpist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Formerly, he was principal harpist in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Opéra National de Paris (2005–2015). In 2004 he won the Gold Medal and a special performance prize at the USA International Harp Competition. In 2006 he earned First Prize and six special prizes at the Young Concert Artists Competition in New York City, and in 2009 he received First Prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. He currently serves as professor of Harp at the Mannes School of Music, and was previously Professor of Harp at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 2005 to 2009. Since 2010 he has taught harp in the summers at the Académie internationale d'été de Nice.[1]

Ceysson is married to finnish actor and TV host Antti Holma.[2]

With his powerful, virtuoso playing, Emmanuel Ceysson sweeps away all the clichés associated with his instrument. His infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy reveals the harp in all its sparkling splendour, in a world where poetry rhymes with temperament.

CHOSEN amongst 70 others of his best peers in a totally blind and anonymous audition process, he is since September 2020 the new Los Angeles Philharmonic Harpist under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. This exciting symphonic position comes after almost 15 years playing opera in the pit, as Principal Harp: first with the Opéra National de Paris, a job he won aged 22, and then for 5 full seasons with the legendary New York MET Opera Orchestra.

BORN and raised in France, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire under the tutelage of Isabelle Moretti, and then managed to collect the highest international distinctions and prizes in the course of 5 years :
