Abimbola Fashola, deliberate about teaching morals, upholding the value of education

Dame Abimbola Emmanuella Fashola was born into the Ojo Ibadan family of Ibadan, Oyo State. She is a Secretary and Administrator by profession. She is a passionate, caring and purpose- driven woman who champions issues relating to education, HIV/AIDS discrimination, poverty eradication, parenting and skills acquisition as well as preservation of the environment.

She has worked in various positions at the British Council for 19 years but eventually resigned to support her husband’s aspiration in 2006.

As the wife of the former Governor of Lagos State; she built 4 recreation centres and the first retirement recreation centre in Lekki, Lagos/Nigeria.

She is the founder of LEARN (Leadership Empowerment and Resource Network) a Non- Governmental Organisation established to groom the youth to be self-confident and socially responsible.

Her NGO helps the youth, while still in college, to develop a passion and obtain the necessary skills for vocational and entrepreneurial training.  She also runs

I have been privileged to meet different distinguished women at different times in my life and the woman who graces this page this week as my Leading Woman is indeed exceptional. A mother, mentor, humble, graced, elegant, affable, intelligent, dependable, with integrity and without airs…these are few words that come to mind as I try to describe this woman of substance. Origines et Education

Abimbola Emmanuela Fashola naît le 6 avril 1965 dans la ville d'Ibadan, capitale de l'État d'Oyo, au sud-ouest du Nigéria[3]. Après une formation en secrétariat, elle obtient un certificat en informatique à l'Université de Lagos[4].

Carrière

En 1987, elle commence sa carrière comme journaliste stagiaire au Daily Sketch avant ses services au British Council. En 2006, elle y démissionne, à la suite de la candidature de son mari Babatunde Fashola au poste de gouverneur de Lagos[5],[6].

Vie privée

Fille de Adenusi Adeojo, premier directeur nigérian de Texaco au Nigéria. Elle se marie à l'homme politique Babatunde Fashola, et de leur unions ressort deux enfants[7].
