Damian Robert Nesta “Jr. Gong” Marley (born 21 July 1978) is a Jamaican reggae musician. The second youngest child of Bob Marley, he is the recipient of four Grammy Awards.[1]
Early life, education and family
Marley is the youngest son of legendary reggae singer Bob Marley.[2] He is the only child born to Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, a Jamaican jazz singer and crowned Miss World 1976. Like several of Bob's children, Damian was born out of wedlock and outside of Bob's marriage to singer Rita Marley.[3] After seeing the film Damien - Omen II, which is about the coming of the Antichrist, one of Bob's last requests in Germany was to have Damian's name changed. "Damien being a devil...It was inappropriate for him as a Rastafarian to have a child with that name," Bob said and Damian's name was later changed.[4]
Damian was two years old when his father died. His nickname "Junior Gong" is derived from his father's nickname of "Tuff Gong".

Damian Marley is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer who won two 2006 Grammy Awards for his third studio album Welcome to Jamrock (2005), Best Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance. The Title-track charted at #55 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, but did better on the R&B and rap charts, peaking at numbers 18 and 12, respectively. It also did well in the UK, peaking at number 13. Born Damian Robert Nesta Marley on July 21, 1978 in Kingston, Jamaica, he is the only child of reggae singer Bob Marley and Cindy Breakspeare. His half siblings are Sharon Marley Prendergast, Cedella Marley, Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Stephanie Marley, Rohan Marley, Robbie Marley, Karen Marley, Julian Marley, Ky-Mani Marley and Makeda Jahnesta. At age 13, Marley formed a musical group called The Shephards.
