FRANCO started as a collaboration project between its members, who are veterans of the Pinoy rock scene. However, FRANCO’s roots are traced from the Cebu-based band Frank!, which Franco Reyes formed in 1996. Frank! Was one of the bands that boosted the Cebu rock scene. In the late 2008, Gabby Alipe and Janjan Mendoza (of Urbandub), Eight Toleran (of Quezo) and Buwi Meneses (of Parokya ni Edgar) collaborated with Reyes, who returned to the Philippines, to form FRANCO.
FRANCO started by playing songs from Frank! and InYo. In 2009, they released their self-titled full-length album under MCA Music. Music videos for “Castaway” and “This Gathering” were aired on Filipino music channel MYX. FRANCO also dominated the 2010 NU Rock Awards by winning four awards – Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “This Gathering”, Album of the Year for their self-titled album, and the Listener’s Choice Award.
Today, the band FRANCO continues to gain a strong following all over the country.

The band spent 2009 recording their first album, and finally releasing it in 2010, to much critical and commercial success. The band had four awards in the NU Rock Awards for that year, and were nominated three times as well in the 2010 Awit Awards, winning for Best Performance by a Group of Recording Artists.
In 2012, the original line-up decided to go their separate ways, with Franco continuing on a hybrid band/solo career. The reason for this was that Franco himself realized that the issue with a superband was that sometimes, the band members could not be available for a performanc
