HIS CHILDHOOD
In Ain Madhi, a small village located a few kilometers from Laghouat, in the Algerian desert, there was a humble traditional earthen dwelling. In this humble dwelling, lived a young wife who, in a corner of this house and with all the courage for which the women of this region are known, gave birth to a son that she named Ahmed. It is thus that in 1150 of the hegira (1737/38 ad) came into this world Seyyidina Ahmed Ibn Mohammed Ibn Mokhtar Tidjani (may ALLAH sanctify his precious secret).
This isolated place, far from the turmoil of the cities, had already been reputed for many years for its great scholars and their piety. The renowned Sheikh Abdallah ibn Mohammed El Iyachi (dead in 1090 of the hegira) who passed through the village, mentioned it in his book Rihlata. He also met Sidi Ahmed, the great-grandfather and namesake of Seyyidina Ahmed Tidjani (may ALLAH sanctify his precious secret) who he described in laudatory terms as “a great scholar”.

Biography
Shehu Ahmad Tijani ABUBAKAR, is a Lecturer in the Department of Private and Property Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin. He has served at various departmental, faculty, and university committees and board representatives and currently serving as Level Adviser of the 2019 Session law students. His research interest cuts across constitutional law, administrative law, electoral law, and international law. He has to his credit over 13 publications in reputable outlets covering journals and chapters in books. He has successfully supervised over 18 undergraduate students in various areas of law. Mr. Abubakar is a member of many professional bodies within and outside Nigeria, he is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a Notary Public.

Sidi Abu Abbas Ahmed al-Tijani (Sidi Ahmed Tijani; Arabic: سيدي أحمد التجاني) is the founder of the Tijaniyya Tariqa, one of the largest Sufi orders in the world. Its adherents are mainly based in North and West Africa, with a presence also in Kerala, India.
He was born in the Southwest Algerian in the oasis town of Ain Madi on 12th Safar 1737 (1150 AH). He is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Fatima Zahra’s J first son Hasan I and later through Mawlay Idris, the celebrated founder of Morocco. His father was Sidi Muhammad ibn al-Mukhtar ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Salam, a prominent scholar whose family came from the Abda tribe and whose grandfather had immigrated to Ain Madi fearing a Portuguese invasion less than a century before the birth of Shaykh Tijani.
