Alison Jolly (May 9, 1937 – February 6, 2014) was a primatologist, known for her studies of lemur biology. She wrote several books for both popular and scientific audiences and conducted extensive fieldwork on Lemurs in Madagascar, primarily at the Berenty Reserve, a small private reserve of gallery forest set in the semi-arid spiny desert area in the far south of Madagascar.

Surgeon-Captain Richard Tadeusz JollyOBE (29 October 1946 – 13 January 2018) was a Royal Navy medical officer who served in the 1982 Falklands War and was later decorated by both the British and Argentine governments for his distinguished conduct during the conflict. He went on to practise and give lectures to medical establishments on his experiences. He was a co-founder, with Denzil Connick, of the South Atlantic Medal Association formed in 1997.[1] He was also the only person to be decorated by both sides for his work in the Falklands War.
Background
Jolly was educated at Stonyhurst College and subsequently studied medicine at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College (now Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry) in London, and qualified as a physician in 1969.[2] While working as a houseman, a senior colleague suggested he join the Royal Naval Reserve as a Royal Navy doctor.

Biography
Richard was born in 1769 and baptised 2 November 1769 in Newlyn East, son of Francis and Ann[1]
Richard Jolly married Winifred Buckingham on 20 Sep 1794 in Newlyn East, both of this parish. Witnesses were Francis Jolly and John Williams[2]
Richard Jolly died aged 72 in 1839[3]
