Justice Linda Marie Bell was elected to the Nevada Supreme Court, November 2022. Previously, she sat for fourteen years in the civil/criminal divisions of the Eighth Judicial District Court. In 2019, her peers elected her the court's Chief Judge where she was responsible for overseeing the operation of the largest, most varied and active court in Nevada. During her tenure, she managed the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, developing and implementing a COVID-19 trial plan to allow jury trials to move forward safely when many other courts remained closed. She was a driving force in establishing the court's Veteran’s Treatment Court and worked to implement the Gambling Diversion Treatment Court, the only one of its kind in the country.
Before coming to the bench, she spent seven years in the non-capital post-conviction unit of the Federal Public Defender handling complex post-conviction cases. Justice Bell was a public defender for five years in Clark County, handling felony crimin

Biography
Linda M. Bell graduated from Bonanza High School in 1986. Bell earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Nevada at Reno in 1990 and a J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1993. Her career experience includes working as an assistant federal public defender with the Law Offices of the Federal Public Defender and a deputy public defender with the Clark County Public Defender's Office.[1]

Linda Marie Bell, 75 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO. A private burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, MO and no formal services are scheduled. Linda was born March 20, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Frances (Jeter) Henning. She moved to the Kansas City area at a young age and graduated from East High School and attended Kansas City Art Institute. One of her accomplishments she was most proud of was aiding the war effort during Vietnam as a civilian contractor and serving overseas for the US Air Force. She had also worked at Hallmarks Cards as a graphic designer for a number of years and enjoyed painting. She was married to Stephen Bell and they enjoyed several years of marriage until his passing in 2023. She is survived by an uncle, Leonard Henning and his wife Melissa of Washington.
