I was formerly a popular singer-songwriter rooted in the counter-cultural era of the 60’s and the early 70’s. I desired through my music to spark off a spiritual revolution for bringing perfect peace and happiness to the entire world.

In 1968 as a young American hippie spiritual seeker I decided to renounce/deny everything and go to India to become a holy man for the rest of my life. However on the way to India I realized that if I was to deny everything, I would to have to also deny denial itself. So instead of heading east to India I grabbed my guitar and hitchhiked to San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury District on a mission to bring love and peace to the whole world. I became a Haight Ashbury street singer and a campus singer at the University of California at Berkeley. I shared the stage with the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead at the famous Polo Fields Concert in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on 7 May 1969 in which the emcee publicly predicted my eminent fame. Sankarshan Das Adhikari, was born on Nov. 7, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a notable religious leader and initiating guru within the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. He received initiation in the tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism from A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada on the 12th of August in 1971.

Sankarshan Das Adhikari received instruction from Vishnujana Swami, also a disciple of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He served ISKCON in various capacities from 1972 to 1982, including as an assistant to Tamal Krishna Goswami. He worked as a Computer Programmer from 1986-1990, was an award winning salesperson for MCI Telecom from 1991-1993. He started and maintained the ISKCON centre in Norman, Ok

His Grace Sriman Sankarshan Das Adhikari appeared in this world in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on 7 November 1947, the tenth day (Dasami) of the most holy month of Kartik according to the Vaisnava calendar. He first met his spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in 1971 and was initiated by him on 12 August of the same year. Srila Prabhupada personally told this new young disciple that he was pleased with his sincerity and enthusiasm for spreading the Krishna consciousness movement. Sankarshan Das fully dedicated his life for serving the order of his spiritual master to become a guru and deliver the world. For the last 40 years he has uninterruptedly served his spiritual master’s movement, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), in various capacities.In the year 2000, in recognition for his full dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s mission, ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission (GBC) gave him their blessings to initiate disciples.
