Early life and Education
In Delhi, Ashok Soota was born on November 12, 1942. At La Martinere in Lucknow, he earned his senior Cambridge and Interscience degrees in 1958 and 1960, respectively. He graduated from the University of Roorkee in 1964 with a B.E. (Electronics) degree. Later, he pursued his MBA at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, Philippines.
Career
Soota started his career in 1965 by working for the Shriram Group of Industries in India. From 1984 to 1999, he presided over Wipro Infotech. Under his direction, Wipro’s IT division grew from a $2 million annual run rate in 1984 to a US$500 million annual run rate in 1999.
