Ardú Street Art project made a triumphant to Cork city for their second edition, bringing some of the country’s most exciting street artists to create thought-provoking, large-scale murals across the cityscape: Friz’s “Goddess Cliodhna” at St Finbarr’s Road, Shane O’Malley’s bold and bright coloured angular shapes and colours on Lower Glanmire Road, Asbestos’ “What is home?” at South Main Street.

The fourth and final piece of the current series has now been revealed, painted by Cork-born, world renowned artist Conor Harrington at Bishop Lucey Park (Grand Parade entrance). Based in London since the mid 2000s, Harrington has created street art in New York, Miami, Paris, London, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Aalborg, Mallorca, Sao Paulo, San Juan, and the Bethlehem Wall; this is Conor’s first large-scale mural in his hometown.

Conor Harrington biography

Conor Harrington was born in 1980 in Cork, Ireland. He attended Limerick School of Art and Design and received in 2002 a Bachelor of Fine Arts. 

His work draws a fine line between classical and contemporary art, and masterfully creates a world within those boundaries. The Irish-born Harrington, a former graffiti artist, not only still enjoys painting huge outdoor murals but consistently tackles new, inventive forms of art, often in a gallery setting.

Conor Harrington utilizes realistic images of people in his pieces, incorporating abstract elements to accompany his painted subject. His illustration of the human form is mesmerizing: he skillfully hones in on certain parts of the figure while obscuring others through the use of bold line work, superb shading and bursts of color within his creations. There is also a more subdued side to Conor Harrington’s art, relying on a darker color palette to convey his intended message to his audience.

Conor Harrington was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1980. After completing a BA in Fine Art at Limerick School of Art and Design in 2002, he relocated to London, where he has lived and worked since.


Harrington began painting graffiti as a teenager in Cork and has since gone on to paint large scale murals around the world in locations such as London, Paris, New York, Miami, Sao Paulo and Mexico City. Working on the streets for over 25yrs has informed Harrington’s studio practice in terms of both content and technique, with narratives and approaches nurtured from the urban environment.


Harrington’s large scale oil paintings take reference from classical art, are rooted in graffiti and manifest as contemporary painting. He examines themes such as masculinity, colonialism and draws parallels between the politics of today and the language of painting.
