Gorilla Grodd is a supervillain character appearing in American comic books and other media published by DC Comics, primarily as an enemy of The Flash (Barry Allen). The character was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, and first appeared in The Flash #106 (May 1959).[1] He is an evil, super-intelligent gorilla who gained mental powers after being exposed to a strange meteorite's radiation.

Grodd has appeared in several forms of DC-related media, including television series and films. He has been voiced by Stanley Ralph Ross, Powers Boothe, John DiMaggio, and David Sobolov, among others.

Fictional character biography

Gorilla Grodd is a hyper-intelligent telepathic gorilla able to control the minds of others. He and other gorillas gained sapience and psychic powers after an alien spaceship crashed in their area.[2][3] The gorillas lived in peace until their home was discovered by explorers. Biography

Pre-Crisis

Imprisoned again, Grodd was kept under watch by more guards but he came to use his telepathy to summon his quadromobile which crashed into the prison allowing to escape in it. After escaping, he looked to enact the next element of his plan which was to evolve himself using a machine where he gained a human-like appearance. He hen travelled to Central City where he operated as a mysterious businessman named Mr. Drew Drowden where he had a factory constructed which was used to develop a special pill. Consuming the pill conferred him powers of mind over matter which he intended to use to conquer the world. This led to a confrontation with his nemesis the Flash where in this time the effects of his evolution-accelerator wore off and he returned to his gorilla form. In that state, he could not use his new powers and attempted to use the evolution machine on himself again but was stopped by the Flash. However,

He was raised by the village elders, laboring under the belief that he was the chosen recipient of an enigmatic force known as The Light, a mystical power that simultaneously supercharged their ancestors’ minds while also wiping out the Mayans, and that when the messenger arrives, he will usher in a new era for his fellow simians.
